Wood Lane signals depot ballot update

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, FIELD SERVICE ENGINEERS, WOOD LANE SIGNALS DEPOT - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

I write further to my previous Circular (Circular No: IR/345/21, 7th September 2021), the ballot has now closed, and the result is as follows:

Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:        7

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                         7

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:               7

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                0

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:      0

The result has been considered by our National Executive Committee, and our Field Service Engineers at Wood Lane Signals Depot are congratulated for having returned a magnificent unanimous vote in favour of industrial action.

I was instructed by the NEC to write to London Underground to demand that an urgent dispute resolution meeting is convened to address the issues given the unquestionable depth of feeling that the result demonstrated. At this meeting progress was made on key points of the dispute - in particular that Field Service Engineers will no longer be asked to cover Duty Engineers - but other matters require further clarification. The NEC in considering the report of the dispute resolution meeting has noted that should the outstanding matters not be resolved to members' satisfaction we will not hesitate to use our mandate for industrial action.

I trust this keeps you fully advised and I will inform branches of any further developments on this issue.
