Unions Agree To Discuss A Joint Approach Over Use Of PMAs In Disciplinarys

We note the report on file regarding the outcome of the member’s case, and that this is now closed to the member’s satisfaction.

We continue to be very concerned, however, with the role played by the People Management Advice specialist (PMA). The email obtained under FOI shows clearly that the PMA took a decision beyond her authority, and LUL management even admit that it ‘looks’ like this, but ludicrously claim that a verbal assurance from the manager refutes this.

General Grades Committee Decision On Bakerloo Detrainment Dispute

RMT GGC made the following decision on the Bakerloo detrainment dispute.

DETRAINMENT – LONDON UNDERGROUND LUL/14/10

Branches will be aware of our ongoing dispute with London Underground over the company’s detrainment policy on the Bakerloo and Central Lines. Talks recently took place at ACAS and the General Grades Committee has now considered a report from the Regional Organiser.

Tube Lines Strike Suspended

We note the report on file from our lead officer and in line with the unanimous view of our Company
Council representatives, we instruct the General Secretary to suspend the industrial action (strike and
overtime ban) due to start on Friday 15 February.

We note that Tube Lines is to cost our demands for pension and travel equality by the end of March.

Bring Tube Contracts Back In House

Since the 1980s, various parts of London Underground have been hived off to the private sector, leading to pay cuts, job losses, worse services and more bureaucracy. The failures of these privatisations – and RMT campaigning – have led to some of these sections returning to public ownership:

  • Metronet collapsed in 2007 and became part of LUL again in 2008
  • Tube Lines was bought by TfL in 2010
  • Tube Lines has taken train maintenance at Stratford Market Depot away from Alstom and back in-house

RMT Letter Of Support For Bob Carnegie Campaign

The RMT's General Secretary Bob Crow & President Peter Pinkney have written to the "Bob Carnegie Defence Campaign" to voice the unions solidarity with the campaign to get all charges against Bob Carnegie dropped.

Bob Carnegie faces several charges after organising a 'community protest' at a construction site in Australia. You can read details of the case on the campaign website here.
