REMINDER - Staff our Stations - Reps Campaigning Meeting - Thursday 16th January
Dear colleague,
As part of the Staff Our Stations campaign, the NEC has instructed me to arrange a high profile meeting of station staff reps including Tier 2 and Health and Safety reps and branches that represent station staff.
Violence and assaults against rail workers and members is soaring. Despite this, station staffing is under increasing attack from the private train companies which are attempting to close ticket offices and cut hours and staffing at stations.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS, STATION STAFF - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)
The following resolution was submitted for consideration to your National Executive Committee by both our Neasden Branch and the London Transport Regional Council:
“Neasden Branch notes the resolution passed by the LTRC calling for a combine-wide ballot of station grades over London Underground's failure to properly address the issue of workplace violence.
Subject: STAFFING LEVELS, REVENUE CONTROL INSPECTORS – LONDON UNDERGROUND
That we note the resolution from our London Transport Regional Council regarding the appalling spike in violence at work against our operational members, the company’s failure or worse intentional non-filling of RCI vacancies which has reduced RCI staff numbers on a massive scale; down from 237 to 140 over 10 years.
To literally add insult to injury; the company are now proposing to replace our RCI grade with an inferior grade of Revenue Control Officer; on £18,000 less salary!
Subject: VIOLENCE AT WORK
That we note that the company have produced and sent the union a document entitled ‘TfL Work-Related Violence and Aggression Strategy’.
We instruct the General Secretary to circulate the document to our Stations and Trains Tier 2 Safety Council Representatives and arrange an urgent meeting of our Stations and Trains Tier 2 Safety Council Representatives, Lead Officer, Senior Assistant General Secretary and members of the NEC in attendance.
Members to be advised by email & text.
Driver’s Cab Security System
RMT Trains Health and Safety Council members today met with LU management and LU engineers, in the latest of a series of meetings to discuss the driver’s cab security system.
Recent meetings have focused on the timings around drivers over-riding unauthorised access to the driver’s cab. Consideration also has to be given to access in an emergency should the driver become incapacitated.
An update on the Jubilee Line stock faults is attached.
