News, reports and information for London Underground train drivers

TOPRA change is attack on junior drivers

We note the report from our London Transport Regional Council regarding the  recently changes to the TOPRA/TOSCA agreements; which clearly amount to an attack on our more recently employed Driver Members and the introduction of a discriminatory two tier approach for addressing SPADs.

We instruct the General Secretary to run a campaign of information on this issue, additionally to call a meeting of all train representatives consulting them on all
approaches up to and including the potential of a ballot for industrial actions.

RMT asks management to reconsider offer to leapfrogged Night Tube drivers

UPDATE ON LEAP-FROGGED DRIVERS DIRECTORS MEETING.

Today the RMT and ASLEF met with Management concerning the leap-frogged drivers situation.

Management put a proposal that all 23 affected leap-frogged drivers would receive a days pay for every week that they were leap-frogged.

Management said that this was a "gratis payment" as the leap-frogged drivers did not work full-time during this period and it would be unfair to pay them for work that they never did.

Please distriubute the newsletter in your depot, or share it online with your colleagues.

Changes to CDP

Your Health & Safety commitee reps have recently attended a meeting with Learning and development with regard to changes to the Continuous Development Program. We were initially concerned that management were going to try to cut / water it down. This appears not to be on the cards at the moment. Although we still have issues with a number of lines only getting the 4 day rather than the 5 day to complete this vital refresher training.

Danny Davis to Come Back as a Driver

Let nobody be in any doubt - this is a fantastic result for Danny. Having been sacked for an alleged offence that certainly didn’t merit dismissal, Danny was looking at a bleak future for himself and his family. On appeal he was given a position as a CSA2, but after a formal request from the RMT Regional Organiser to the HR Director Danny was moved to a CSA1 position. Then the result of the RMT ballot for strike action came back and suddenly the landscape changed.

A Night Tube Driver was seriously assaulted at Stanmore at 04.30 on Sunday morning (5th November). The driver was changing ends to move the train from reception road 33 to sidings road 27. Whilst changing ends the driver was assaulted by five or six youths and had spray paint sprayed on his face.

The youths also took the drivers radio.

Trains Work life balance dispute ACAS update

The RMT entered into a dispute with London Underground in August as tube bosses had failed to deliver on agreements they made as a part of our 2015 pay deal.

Your union wanted to negotiate alongside Aslef but for several days they refused to share a room with us at ACAS. On one occasion they walked out early in the day so your RMT negotiators where left to meet with management separately to push for a resolution. It was only at the final stage that both the RMT and Aslef met management collectively.

The RMT has secured the following offers at ACAS:
