Still a minority in a tradtionally male-dominated industry, RMT women are organising against sexism and for our issues to be heard

Results Of RMT Survey Of Women Members: Sexism In The Transport Sector

What actions do you think would help get rid of the sexist culture in your work place?

  • Awareness of what is/what is not acceptable.
  • Definitely more awareness training. More women in senior positions.
  • It's mostly the over 50's in the workplace as they are still stuck in the 1960's era!!
  • Have women on the board of directors would be nice!
  • There is a culture that says if you're not one of the "lads" i.e. Drink, swear or object to any discrimination you're attacked.

Resolution: Support Sindyanna

Stratford no.1 branch is submitting this resolution to RMT Women's Conference:

We support the work of Sindyanna, the women workers’ cooperative associated with the Workers’ Advice Centre (Maan) in Galilee.

We ask the union to promote its activities and products, and to investigate the possibilities of including Sindyanna products carrying the RMT logo in the union’s range of merchandise.

Equal Pay

RMT Council of Executives decision:

That we instruct all Lead Officers to raise the issue of equal pay audits with the companies they deal with. We note that only the companies have access to the information necessary to conduct an equal pay audit. Companies must be asked to share the findings of their audits with us.
